The CJC believes in restorative justice for our community and we aren’t the only ones fighting this fight. This page provides links to other community and national resources that could be of assistance to those affected by the criminal justice system.
Advance Peace
Advance Peace interrupts gun violence in American urban neighborhoods by providing transformational opportunities to young men involved in lethal firearm offenses and placing them in a high-touch, personalized fellowship—the Peacemaker Fellowship Working with and supporting a targeted group of individuals at the core of gun hostilities, Advance Peace bridges the gap between anti violence programming and a hard-to-reach population at the center of violence in urban areas.
Cultiva La Salud
Cultiva La Salud is dedicated to creating health equity by fostering changes in communities that support healthy eating and active living. Serving vulnerable and marginalized youth, adults, and families in the San Joaquin Valley since 2005.
Fresno Barrios Unidos
Trauma informed, healing-centered, community building, advocacy. Serving youth and families in Fresno since 1994.
Fresno Building Healthy Communities
Fresno BHC works to build a long-term foundation for a healthier community, create social capital via an informed and active citizenry, and empower grassroots leaders. Serving youth, adults, and families in Fresno’s most vulnerable communities since 2010.
Faith in the Valley Participatory Defense
The Participatory Defense program is an accompaniment strategy for diversion and intervention as an alternative to punitive and carceral responses and reaction. Certified Credible Messengers as Gang and Intimate Partner Violence Experts. Faith in the Valley mobilizes communities of faith to create a better future for families and communities.
Fresno Street Saints
Through social interactions and collaborative partnerships this Street Saints (a program of the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission) provides Gang Prevention and Intervention, Community Development, and Employment and Training. Serving families, neighborhoods, and communities in the Fresno area since 2002.
Fresno United Neighborhoods
The goal of Fresno United Neighborhoods (FUN) is to improve the quality of life in Fresno through innovative and collaborative outreach initiatives in recreation, health, and learning. Serving youth, families, and the Fresno community since 2005.
Insight Garden Project
IGP uses a restorative approach through connection with nature. The organization works using a collaborative, participatory-centered approach with all key stakeholders. IGP has worked with incarcerated individuals and individuals reentering society since 2017.
Jakara Movement
The Jakara Movement is a grassroots community-building organization working to empower, educate, and organize Punjabi Sikhs and other marginalized communities; to advance their health, education, and economic, social, and political power. Serving youth and marginalized communities since 2000.
Project Rebound (Fresno State)
Project Rebound prepares serious students for a University mindset. Project Rebound provides mentorship, academic advising, guidance in the everyday challenges of college, and a safe encouraging space to assist students.Serving previously incarcerated individuals who wish to pursue higher education since 2016.
Root & Rebound
Root & Rebound’s mission is to restore power and resources to the families and communities most harmed by mass incarceration through legal advocacy, public education, policy reform and litigation— a model rooted in the needs and expertise of people who are directly impacted.
Hope Now
Hope Now For Youth is a cost-effective method for dealing with juvenile crime. Just how effective can be determined from the fact that it costs upwards of $95,000 per year to prosecute and incarcerate a youth. By contrast, it costs just over $6,000 for Hope Now to do the relationship-building, (re)parenting, mentoring, job preparedness training, job development and job placement and follow-up to lift an at-risk youth from the streets into the American mainstream. Marriage and Family Classes are offered to further stabilize the youth and his loved ones.
